What is the Zika Virus you ask?
It’s here and its very real.
Recently the World Health Organization convened an emergency meeting to go over the spread of the Zika Virus. The virus has spread from Africa and is now in over 23 countries in the Americas. The virus is spread through animals (specifically the Mosquito) The virus masks itself as a fever and aches and pains. Where this virus takes a deadly turn is in Pregnant Women. Women that are pregnant and contract the disease will more than likely pass the infection on to their unborn baby.
This infection will more than likely result in microcephaly, a rare birth defect where babies are born with underdeveloped brains. How can we help? Education. Right now there is no known cure, but if we’re all informed about what the disease is, then we can help each other combat this unfortunate health risk.
