There is a lot of new technology out there. As a pharmacist keeping your head above water and learning about all of it is just to much. We are here to help you out by showing you some of the key platforms that are in use today and how to best use them to help you and your team out, and what some metrics you can look at today are.
Pioneer and computer RX: There are a lot of programs on the market today that claim to be best one for your pharmacy to use. Some are old and Linux based, while others are pushed by your wholesaler. Really you should look at getting a software for your pharmacy that focuses on doing one thing well, and that is organizing pharmacy data. We recommend you go with one of the following two, Pioneer RX or Computer RX. They might be a little more pricey, but most of the independent pharmacy owners who are truly successful use one of these two to help run there drugstore.
Mail Chimp: If you are looking to set up a cheap email campaign for your clients this is the place to do it. It starts off free, allows you to download your clients into a list to keep in touch with them, or create a list of doctors who you think could use your services and let them know what your up to. There is a bit of learning curve, but after you play with it two or three times you’ll feel comfortable, and if you want to go more advanced you can even pay for a premium package that allows you get some analytics and set up a/b campaigns where you can test two different emails and see which one gets a better response.
WordPress: If you want to set up your own website word press is the best place to build and design websites. They also can host your blogs. The software package is awesome so if you really want to dig in to this and try to create an awesome website for yourself, check it out!!
Hubspot: If you want to take your marketing to the next level, this is the the place to go. It helps you with blogging, organizing clients, creating content, and doing sales and marketing the new way which is primarily on line based. The software is pretty complex, and you really need to have some time to put into it and learn everything, but it is the best tool for growth in any industry on the market today.
Google: Google is the king of the web, most people use them as the go to search engine and gmail for there email, but they have a lot of other cool tools you can use in the marketing of your business.
Google Trends allows you to search what is popular and what is trending, in fact if you go and and search pharmacy you can look down and see that Walmart pharmacy is one of the connected searches that is really starting to move, scary thought!
Google Analytics gives you some awesome information on how your website is currently performing and how many clicks are coming in on each day.
Google Adwords allows you to buy space to jump to the top of the page when people search you in google. I am sure you have probably got phone calls over the last 10 years from companies selling you on buying space there and while sometimes it can be a good tool do some research yourself before signing a contract with one.
Google Chrome: I personally prefer google chrome as my browser of choice. It is easier to use than the ones that come preloaded on your computer, and less buggy. Also there is an extensions section where you can download a add blocker and remove cookies from your site.
