ThoughtSpot 2016 is fast approaching! This AmerisourceBergen conference caters directly to community pharmacists and gives you an opportunity to meet with vendors and pharmacists to learn about new innovations in the industry. If you are buying your medication as an independent pharmacist, we highly recommend it. For info on the show click here. Some of the key highlights you can pull from ThoughtSpot are:
- Continuing Education Classes
- Networking Opportunities
Continuing Education Classes
Tradeshows offer a great opportunity to fulfill continuing education requirements. The all day CE certification requires you to pre-register but otherwise classes are first come, first served. To learn more about the specific classes offered at ThoughtSpot 2016 and register for all day credit, click here.
Continuing education usually falls into four categories:
- Clinical services
- Revenue opportunities
- Business management
- Pharmacy operations
Since it’s right around mid year reviews, we recommend looking into the business management classes. However, if those don’t fit into your schedule, we have this handy ebook you can download right here:
This ebook tells you not only WHY it’s important to have a written business plan, but HOW to write a business plan that will help your business meet its goals in the second half of the year.
Trade shows are great places to network. At RBC last year alone there were about 4300 pharmacists in attendance. You may also want to consider joining a buying group if you haven’t already. You give up some of your flexibility, but make up for it with higher rebates on the back end, and a little extra cash flow for the short term. They aren’t perfect for everyone, but you should listen to what your local buying group has to say if you’re not in one yet, and see if you would be a good fit.
There will be a ton of awesome people at ThoughtSpot this year. The quality of the booths here is higher than at the regional events, and a lot of times you get VP level or even C level corporate people here. Make sure you stop and chat up the booths a little more than your regional show, you will learn something here if you keep your mind open.
Viva Las Vegas! ThoughtSpot 2016 is being held in Vegas this year so there’s really no excuse not to go. Vegas has some of the best live entertainment, casinos, and food in the world. If you’re not too busy partying at the tradeshow, we highly recommend checking out what the city has to offer. Dillon, our Creative Director, attended UNLV and recommends keeping an eye out for whole-in-the-wall places, food trucks, and Hawaiian restaurants. For fancy dining, Dillon recommends MOzen Bistro, La Cave, and Andrea’s.
We’re posting this a little before the event so you can get ready for the show, and register for all-day classes if you haven’t done that yet. Enjoy the event, and look for US THERE! Our InboundRx CEO, Jon Tomin, will be there with Med-On-Time, one of our newest clients. Jon is always willing to talk to independent pharmacy owners looking for advice on improving marketing.
