Cardinal Health RBC is coming up fast. This conference caters directly to independent pharmacists and gives you an opportunity to meet with vendors in the industry and pharmacists from nearly every state in the country. If you are buying your medication as an independent pharmacist we highly recommend it. For more info on the show click here. Some of the key highlights you can pull from RBC are:
- Continuing Education Classes
- Networking Opportunities
- Exhibits and Vendor Shows
Continuing Education Classes
One of the main highlights of the event is the high quality continuing education. Cardinal Health is offering over 50 CE courses this year.
The classes address just about everything to do with running an independent pharmacy. On the medicine side, there are updates on treating infection, travel medicine, new drugs, and immunizations. In addition, there are classes about pharmacy business including branding, new payment strategies, new pharmacy laws, and even a class on how to pass your family pharmacy down to the next generation. RBC offers courses to pharmacy techs as well so, if you can, consider bringing a tech along with you. In you missed a class last year, RBC has some repeat courses available too. Here’s a link to the Schedule at-a-glance for 2016.
Trade shows are great places to network. At RBC last year alone there were about 4300 pharmacists in attendance. Check out our ebook on the subject below for more info.
This book talks about some great networking skills you can develop as a pharmacist to maximize your learning at these shows. You may also want to consider joining a buying group if you haven’t already. You give up some of your flexibility, but make up for it with higher rebates on the back end, and a little extra cash flow for the short term. They aren’t perfect for everyone, but you should listen to what your local buying group has to say if you’re not in one yet, and see if you would be a good fit.
Exhibits and Vendor Shows
There will be a ton of awesome people at RBC this year. There were over 8,700 attendees at RBC last year so this trade show definitely draws high quality exhibitors. Last year there were also 373 vendors at the conference. The quality of the booths here is higher than at regional events, and a lot of times you get VP level or even C level corporate people here. Make sure you stop and chat up the booths a little more than your regional show. You will learn something here if you keep your mind open.
Yes, that is a big ass T-Rex. It is currently touring the country and will be on display in the heart of Chicago at the Field Museum. There is always awesome live entertainment and parties at these events as well. This year the Blues Brothers will be performing. Michael J Fox and Erik Wahl will also be speaking during the event! Customers of Cardinal Health will also have access to the Museum of Science and Industry after hours for Customer Appreciation Night on Friday.
We’re posting this a little before the event so you can get ready for the show, and look into bring a tech or two from your pharmacy. Enjoy the event and check out Med-On-Time, one of our newest clients!
